A kill zone: tarred floors, arrow-shooting walls, and an emergency acid bucket.
Large enemies absorb dozens
of hits before dropping dead.
TRAP SYNERGY
Reliable combos for dealing
with orc hordes
Ice Amulet + Swinging Mace
Freeze an enemy beneath the spiked pendulum and
they’ll suffer several hits instead of just one. If they die
there, they’ll shatter into a pile of cubes.
The Push Trap is perfect for narrow
ledges that overlook an acid pit.
Spring Trap + Pounder
Ceiling-mounted Pounders squash enemies, but they
have a long cooldown. The springed floor kicks back
orcs that sneak through, giving them another chance
to trigger the Pounder.
THE WORLD’S
Brimstone + Decoy
Decoys lure orcs within a certain radius. Surrounding
these distractions with Brimstone saps their HP as
they beat on your punching bag.
parallel, independent lanes. The
crossbow lets me reach both places if I
stand on the small median, but I lose visibility of one lane if I run into the other.
I can’t straddle ‘em both. I have to make
a decision between loading one lane up
with traps and focusing my attacking on
the opposite side, or splitting my devices
across both lanes.
I go for symmetry. I lay brimstone pits
on both sides—orange-hot coal fires
that singe the HP of any enemy that
walks over them. Then, they get hit by a
giant mace ball, my ever-swinging pendulum that golfs greenskins. I place a
Grinder a few yards from the exit—a flat
wall with two rotating, spiked cylinders
that doesn’t have much horizontal reach,
but turns any orcs that come close into a
jumble of green ham.
But four waves in, my battle plan gets
shattered. Slow-flying dragons are
floating out of the orcs’ entry point, and
none of my ground-targeting traps can
touch them as they move up a separate,
middle lane. I feel like I’ve left an oven
on too long, except the oven is dragons.
They’re already halfway to the exit when
I notice them. I have to pull out my Ice
Amulet and all of my mana to knock
them out of the air with hailstones.
